Calling All Quilters!!!
The time is now to sign up for the second season of the Four Seasons Quilt Swap. We will be making & swapping a mini-quilt under the “winter” theme. As before, please adhere to the few restrictions as to material:
1) Prewashed cotton materials (you may make it before washing, but prewash before you mail your quilt)
2) cotton or polyester batting
3) hand or machine quilted
4) embellished as you wish, but not with glue
5) include a personalized label on the back of the quilt. It should include your name & partner's names, where you are from, and Winter 2008-Four Seasons Quilt Swap, at a minimum.
Winter is a season that encompasses many holidays. Please be very specific when you sign up when you are specifying “style” if you, for example, do not want your quilt to be for Christmas, or any other religious holiday, as this may not be your faith.
Signups until December 1, 2007 (or until I close them due to high response)
Partner information emailed by December 15, 2007
Quilts to be mailed by January 30, 2008
------------------------------------------------------
Here are some new guidelines for this season:
Size…
anywhere between 16”x16” to 20”x20” squares or any rectangular size between 16 and 20”. Previously I had given 12-18”, but I think on the wall, a slightly larger is more attractive.
Partner…
If you have a preference for partner, please let me know. If you happened to see a Fall quilt last time that you just love, and would like that particular quilter to make you one, you may request it. If you’d like to send a quilt to the partner that sent you one in the fall, let me know. I cannot guarantee that the person is actually doing the swap right away (until sign ups progress), nor can I guarantee that you will definitely get that particular partner. As people sign up, I will update the swap page.
International Partners:
Nearly half of the Fall swappers were international (ie, outside of the US). If you are willing to ship internationally, you will be placed in the pool that will likely receive a quilt from an international partner.
Please Prioritize your Preferences…
Please indicate in order of your preference:
1) style of winter quilt (whether contemporary, or folk, appliqued, intended for a certain holiday, etc)
2) partner
3) colors
Advertisement of swap:
Kindly place a blog entry on your blog about this swap. I don’t plan to “cold-email” people this time due to time. Word of mouth is the best way of spreading our news throughout the quilting world of bloggers. After signups, you may also add the “Four Seasons Quilt Swap” badge to you blog.

Sign Up:
Email me directly with “Winter Quilt Swap” in the subject line at msolomo1@maine.rr.com by December 10, 2007. Do not leave a comment at this blog, as I may not see that for days. I will close the signups prior to then if the numbers reach 100. We had 60 swappers for the fall, and this was lots of work for me to manage everybody!! In this email, please include ALL of the following information:
1) full name
2) mailing address
3) blog URL
4) email address
5) if you have a requested partner (this is who you'd like to make a quilt for you)
6) your preferences for quilt (you may request likes and/or dislikes to color, style, etc)
7) whether you are willing to mail internationally OR Not
8) Your priority of items 5, 6 and color scheme (in order of most important to least important)
9) Would you want or not want a “Christmas-styled” quilt? Ie, thoughts on quilts of the religious holidays, etc.
NOTE: IF YOU FAILED TO MAIL A QUILT TO A PARTNER FOR THE FALL SWAP, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THIS ONE. I hold the integrity of our swap quilters very high. These quilts were gorgeous, and they took many hours to make. If you are not willing to make that commitment, don’t bother signing up. Kudos to two swappers from the fall whose quilts were lost and they actually made a second one to send so that their partners actually did not think that they were neglected.
